Gold & Pioneer Event 2015

Swatch ClubGold & Pioneer Event 2015

The Gold & Pioneer event took place this year from May 14th to May 17th in Germany. The 2015 event was the 20th dedicated to our Swatch Club VIP community. After 10 years of travelling all around the world, the Gold & Pioneer members met again in Berlin. It was a unique anniversary with 3 days of exciting adventures, fun, culture and new experiences. It was a wonderful opportunity to share the “joie de vivre” of Swatch with us and with other Swatch Club friends!

Welcome to Berlin

Welcome to our 20th Gold & Pioneer Event. A great long weekend is awaiting for our event participants: a unique family gathering, loads of fun and countless emotions to guide our community through the 25th Swatch Club year.

Our Swatch Club team started welcoming the members at 10:00 on Thursday 14th May. Around 140 badges waiting on the welcome desk for their owners, hugs and smiles to start the event with the best mood.

Old-timers' challenge around the city

Do I see double? Is this a step in the past? More than 30 old-timers are lining outside the hotel looking for the right team to jump on board. Berlin is ready to be conquered by Swatch Club. A scavenger hunt on board of a unique car to discover monuments and secrets of one of the most dynamic European city.

Berlin be ready to be overrun! Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States are present!

A Swiss dinner in Berlin

A very special night awaited our Gold & Pioneer members on Thursday. Located in Berlin Wilmersdorf, the Bar jeder Venunft became a Swiss small village for one night. Two Swiss original dressed ladies welcomed them at the doors and distributed Swiss Cheese, Swiss flags, Swiss chocolates at the sounds of a very special Cuckoo clock.

After announcing the winners of the daily challenges, the cuckoo struck again and the cow bells silenced the room announcing a new collection preview presented by the Swatch Creative Director: Carlo Giordanetti.

It was 23:30 when the cuckoo struck one last time to call the end of a day full of Swatch emotions.

Kiosk time and workshops

On Friday morning the sun shone on our Gold & Pioneer event. Just in time for one of the traditional highlights of the event: the Kiosk, where rare and collectible watches were exceptionally available for our members.

While Gold & Pioneer members impatiently waited for their turn to get in, four workshops were organized in the hotel. All our members’ talents were put to the test as they danced, drew, grilled (currywurst, what else could they grill in Berlin? ) and mixed smoothies and health drinks to get ready for a day full of surprises!

The participants also had the opportunity to share their Swatch and Swatch Club memories in a Testimonial room—we can’t wait to hear what fantastic memories (and secrets!) they confided to us.

Lunch Cruise

With the sun warming the day, we all walked from the hotel to the pier to discover a unique Swatch Club boat. It was time for the lunch and to embark on the Alexander von Humboldt for a cruise on the Spree with our new Swatch Club sailor shirt.

Street art dinner

After a free afternoon, we all met for a special barbecue night on the terrace of the hotel. It was a nice surprise to discover that two artists had been invited to perform live and create three unique Maxi Swatch watches during the evening.

Time flew while enjoying the food and each other’s company. As the artists finished their work, Swatch Creative director Carlo Giordanetti told us more about them, with a special focus on Matthias Heyde. This young German artist turned his passion – DESIGN – into his art. Matthias began a collaborative project with Swatch in 2015, designing a watch for the Fall - Winter collection. Colors and happiness are the main subjects of his art, and his signature watch will bring them to your wrist, too,  during the Fall - Winter season.

Design gave way to music, in this night full of surprises, when as a present for the happy Swatch Club time and memories, the members sang a song to the Swatch team. The song, written and rehearsed in secret, was a fantastic and unexpected gift. Thank you again to all of you guys who contributed to making our event so special!

Song Recording

Saturday morning arrived soon with another surprise for the event participants. After the great performance of the night before, it was time to open a professional studio and record a Swatch Club song all together! René Rennefeld, multi-platinum record producer, offered his expertise to teach all of us not only how to sing, but also how to create a hit. We were all divided in four different groups and after warming up our voices we started writing the lyric of a Swatch Club song. “Swatch is our passion, love and happiness, color up your mind!” Do you want to listen to it? “My Pet and Me” Challenge

After a morning full of emotions, a new challenge awaited us. Lions, birds, monkeys… all the animals in the world were hints in this treasure hunt around Berlin Zoo and the Tiergarten. Even the light rain couldn’t stop our teams, who scattered around the park looking for clues and answers. Everybody searched for a parrot in Australia, then took a picture with a Lion in Africa and counted Swatch birds in Germany. Have a look at the selfie taken during the hunt — on Facebook #gnpevent15

Dinner and Party at the Hamburger Bahnhof

Art was again the protagonist during the evening. The theme for the night was “Surf In The Wave” (but just try surfing in a Berlin Museum!) and together with our members we made it happen. It was a night full of contrasts: it started with a private tour of the Hamburger Bahnhof modern and contemporary art collections, continued with an Italian-inspired Dolce Vita dinner and ended with a Surfing the Wave tropical party. During the party, Carlo Giordanetti presented and congratulated our new Gold members individually and unveiled the event watch.

Time for a long night of dance and fun, which will leave all of us with lasting memories of Berlin.

Brunch at the Reichstag

After three action- and emotion-packed days, it was time for a farewell brunch. Where could our members say goodbye and meet one last time before the next event, if not at one of the city’s most iconic venues, the Reichstag? Goodbye to all of you, we can’t wait to meet you all again!
